What Is a Crystal Bulb?

A crystal bulb is a light bulb which is “crystal-inspired”, “crystal glass”, or an actual crystal rock bulb.

Crystal bulbs often have surfaces cut to catch and reflect light, giving them a sparkling, elegant appearance.

  • Crystal Glass: This is a specialty glass which appears brighter and more sparkly then regular glass. “Crystal” usually means decorative, enhanced glass rather than an actual mineral crystal. Traditionally it used lead oxide, and modern versions may use other minerals like barium or zinc instead of lead. These bulbs may be shaped like a crystal or simply have decorative cuts.
  • Crystal-Inspired: Crystal-inspired bulbs are decorative glass bulbs which may use faceted plastic, molded glass, or other materials that mimic a sparkle and cut pattern. They may have no crystal glass at all.  They may also be shaped like a crystal or have decorative shapes and cuts.
  • Real Crystal: This is an actual mineral-based crystal material, used only in some specialty lighting products.

What Makes a Crystal Bulb Special Is the Way It Blends Function with Style.

It provides light, but it also serves as a design feature, adding a sense of luxury and visual interest to a space. These bulbs are often used in homes, restaurants, hotels, and other interiors where atmosphere matters just as much as brightness.
